A Sense of Order
Oqaatsut in Western Greenland is a remote settlement of about 40 souls on the fringe of Disko Bay, the source of most of the icebergs that flow into the Atlantic. Fishing sustains life here - and a few tourists. The buildings are made from imported timber and have a bright Scandinavian look. Every house and building has its number, and considering there are only about 60 buildings, some of the numbers are surprisingly high. There's a sense of order, Danish order, being imposed on life in this wild landscape.
